Shiras Park, known as Picnic Rocks is the Home of the OUTBACK Art Fair on July 26 & 27th, 2008. This is the 15th annual OUTBACK and we have some very interesting happenings this year. Our lineup of artists, fine crafts people, and authors is Superior with 70 vendors coming from the UP, another 20 from parts of Lower Michigan, and a few from across the country. This year, we have the exciting addition of Coco’s at the Shore (and Gophers) as our food vendor!!

The Marquette County Health Department is sponsoring a walk “From the OUTBACK to Art on the Rocks” Saturday from noon until 2:00pm. This event is part of a statewide event, Walk Michigan Campaign. Participants in this walk are eligible for a drawing for a free Labor Day weekend at Mackinac Island, lodging at Mission Point Resort with a brunch at the Grand Hotel. Drawing will be held on Monday the 28th.

For you music lovers, Kirsten Gustafson and Dave Williams will be around early afternoon for an hour or two to entertain you with her sultry voice… and you never know who else might show up to provide entertainment.

OUTBACK Show Hours are Saturday, July 26th, 10-6 and Sunday, come and enjoy the show from 10-5.

The playground and beach are here for the kids, come stroll through, sit a spell, shop (do your holiday shopping!), and have great food! Visit our information booths Parks Advisory, Save the Wild UP, IHR , Civil Air Patrol To name a few.
